Rovers and Seasiders earn home draws but Dragons go on the road
FC CLACTON and STANWAY ROVERS have been rewarded for solid second-round
wins with home draws in the third round of the FA Vase, however,
WIVENHOE TOWN will have to go on their travels.
The Dragons progressed with a 3-0 defeat of Cornard United at Broad
Lane on Friday, but they now face a journey to Spartan South Midlands
League premier division side Biggleswade Town in the next phase.
Stanway knocked out Biggleswade’s other side – United – with a 3-0
win on Saturday to book their own place in the third round and joint
manager Rob Bate was after a home tie as a payback for their victory.
His wishes have been granted as Rovers will play host to Shoreham,
who ply their trade at the same level as Stanway in the non-league
pyramid in division one of the Badgers Ales Sussex County League, after
the south coast side beat Chichester City United 4-0 after extra-time
in round two.
There is also a home tie for FC Clacton as a reward for their
second round heroics in the 4-0 win against Basildon on Saturday.
Clacton, who play at level six of the pyramid, will entertain level
five side Holbeach United of the Eagle Bitter United Counties League
premier division at the Rush Green Bowl.
All third round ties are due to be played on the weekend of December 6.
