Rovers and Seasiders earn home draws but Dragons go on the road

FC CLACTON and STANWAY ROVERS have been rewarded for solid second-round wins with home draws in the third round of the FA Vase, however, WIVENHOE TOWN will have to go on their travels.

The Dragons progressed with a 3-0 defeat of Cornard United at Broad Lane on Friday, but they now face a journey to Spartan South Midlands League premier division side Biggleswade Town in the next phase.

Stanway knocked out Biggleswade’s other side – United – with a 3-0 win on Saturday to book their own place in the third round and joint manager Rob Bate was after a home tie as a payback for their victory.

His wishes have been granted as Rovers will play host to Shoreham, who ply their trade at the same level as Stanway in the non-league pyramid in division one of the Badgers Ales Sussex County League, after the south coast side beat Chichester City United 4-0 after extra-time in round two.

There is also a home tie for FC Clacton as a reward for their second round heroics in the 4-0 win against Basildon on Saturday.

Clacton, who play at level six of the pyramid, will entertain level five side Holbeach United of the Eagle Bitter United Counties League premier division at the Rush Green Bowl.

All third round ties are due to be played on the weekend of December 6.

 Injury News

Liam Bailey- Liam has suffered a infamous broken matatersal in his right foot.  It is likely that he will be back early in the new year.  It has been a massive blow to lose Liam, the left back had contributed 3 goals this season including a cracking half way line effort against Harwich.

Kevin Hughes- Kevin suffered a re-occurance of reputured knee ligaments to his right knee after just 3 games with the Rovers.  Having seen the specialist and recently having the injury operated on it is hoped that Kevin will return before the new year.  Kevin has been sorely missed at the centre of the Rovers defence this season.

JEFFY'S NEW SPONSORED CAR

News has broken that Rovers assistant Manager Steve Jeffy Ball has recently had delivered a 58 plate Golf TDI.  The sponsored vehicle has arrived equiped with the latest technology available.  But Jeffy has added a few minor touches of his own.  These include a "Steve and Sally" sign on the front windscreen and a Formula one style Spoiler to suite.  Jeffy has recently been quoted at his envy of Rovers keeper and Danny Dyer wannabe Michael Church and his marvelous gary boy vehicle. So it seems mid life crisis Ball has gone one step further.  All the stops have been pulled out and many a contact used.  Possibly the perks of being an ex-pro ey Jeffy. Rovers would like to pass on their congratulations to Steve and his sponsor!
